Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents and they from their parents. It is in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world.
Years ago when I was growing up , many people were working at typewriter factories. Nobody makes typewriters now. instead, computers came in and whole new businesses were spawned from them. That’s the way it will be with the green technology.
With California’s state’s unemployment rate hovering at 12.5 percent, it would benefit all of us if we have a Green Expansion and California is well positioned to take advantage of it.
Green expansion may materialize, and California is well positioned to take advantage of it.
John Haverman, a principal at Beacon Economics in Palo Alto, anticipates an eventual boom in green jobs.
“Over the long-term, it’s pretty clear that green jobs are going to play a significant role in California’s economy,” he said.
Building on his commitment to clean technology growth in California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed SB 71 that creates a sales tax exemption for the purchase of green tech manufacturing equipment in California. This tax exemption is a part of the legislative package that will create or retain at least 100,000 jobs.
California leads the world in environmental technology as the home to 10,209 clean-tech companies and home base to the innovative minds and year-round sunshine that power the clean technology industry. SB 71 will allow California to maintain this competitive edge by expanding the range of projects which may be approved for a sales tax exemption to include all clean-tech manufacturers.
This targeted sales tax exemption will not cost the state tax dollars; it will increase revenue by expanding the number of clean technology manufacturing companies with sites in California.
